When creating an e-cover letter, avoid the temptation to let your resume do all the talking. Rather, use your e-cover letter just as you would a snail-mail cover letter and detail the position for which you're applying, where you learned of the opening, and why you're right for the position.
Use a subject line that makes it clear for which opening you are applying. You don't want your email to get caught in a spam filter or overlooked by a busy recruiter with a full inbox.
Make sure to use a professional salutation ("Dear Ms. Smith," "To Whom It May Concern," etc.). Further, be sure to employ a formal closing ("Sincerely" or "Yours Truly," both work well). back
